Job Description

Duties:

  • Attend all pre-service orientation and professional development sessions
  • Implement lessons that are consistent with the methods and approaches endorsed for the program
  • Maintain fidelity to the time allocations established for the teaching of specific English language skills
  • Maintain a positive relationship with students, other teachers, and the EL Summer School Coordinator for the mutual benefit of all students
  • Be open to self-reflection and willingness to adapt to new teaching styles presented during the training and coaching process

Required Characteristics:

  • Holds extensive experience in EL instruction
  • Teacher currently employed in Madison School District with a minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • Holds valid teaching certificate
  • Experience working with EL students preferred
  • Working knowledge of ELP Standards
  • Experience working with SEI Methodologies
  • Experience in use of Kagan Structures
  • Demonstrated ability to relate in a positive manner with students, parents and staff
  • Experience in using achievement data to make instructional decisions
  • Evidence of interpreting student data and aligning instruction to meet      individual needs
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal communication skills, written and oral
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills

Salary and Line of Authority:

  • Teacher training at $25.00 per hour (Approximately 16 hours)
  • Instructional hours at $33.00 per hour (Approximately 48 hours total)
  • Responsible to Mike Winters, Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction and EL Summer School Coordinator

Time Frame:

    • Teacher Professional Development: TBD
    • Students:   June 10 – June 27, 2018, Monday-Thursday
  •  Daily schedule: Students: 7:30 – 12:30 (Instruction from 8:00-12:00)
  •  Teacher Training: TBD
