Job Description

Duties:

  • Work with curriculum office in ordering materials.
  • Assist teachers with locating and finding materials and resources.
  • Provide regular, frequent communication with teachers regarding student progress and in making recommendations for interventions.
  • Facilitate the collection of required paperwork/documentation. Coordinate all facets of summer school program including breakfast and lunch program, staff hiring, staff professional development, student transportation, scheduling, student assessment and placement, class/teacher assignments, attendance, student discipline, parent communication, staff communication and other additional duties as assigned by the District EL Coordinator or District Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Work closely with district EL Coordinator to coordinate the planning and implementation of the program and shared responsibilities.
  • Design and facilitate in-service trainings for all teachers prior to the beginning of summer school to review plans, procedures and responsibilities including teaching assignments and to provide structure and literacy expectations for class instruction.

Required Characteristics:

  • Evidence of interpreting student data and aligning instruction to meet individual needs
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Teacher currently employed in Madison School District with a minimum of 5 years primary teaching experience
  • Holds elementary teaching certificate
  • Holds SEI endorsement
  • Extensive experience working with EL students
  • Extensive knowledge of ELP Standards
  • Experience working with SEI Methodologies and training teachers in the use of SEI Methodologies
  • Demonstrates ability to relate in a positive manner with students, parents and staff
  • Experience in use of Kagan Structures
  • Evidence of instructional leadership
  • Experience with class scheduling and administrative duties
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills

Salary and Line of Authority:

  • Profesional Development facilitator at $33.00 per hour (Approximately 11 hours)
  • Instructional hours at $33.33 per hour (Approximately 48 hours total)
  • Additional duty pay, 16 hours at $25.00 per hour
  • Responsible to Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction
