JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Is fiscally responsible for keeping the District’s facilities in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program or marketing ability.



1.  High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED). 
2.    Five (5) years of plumbing experience preferred.
3.    Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
4.    Ability to read, write, speak and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
5.    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
6.    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
7.    Ability to work in a friendly manner and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
8. Ability to work independently.
9. Have or ability to obtain certification for backflow preventers.
10. Have or ability to obtain certification for boilers.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  


Assumes primary responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the district.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:



1. Examines district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance.
2. Accurately orders and accounts for material and labor relative to assignments.
3. Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, local and Governing Board guidelines.
4. Performs general plumbing maintenance work throughout the District such as water fountains, drains, clogged pipes, sewer lines, etc.
5. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, and maintains the inventory of district owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies.
6. Schedules preventative maintenance with outside contractors, example: grease trap clean outs, backflows, boilers and large scale plumbing projects.
7. Is required to be on-call.
8. Responsible for annual paperwork and inspection on natural gas line maintenance and repair for the Arizona Corporation Commission.
9. Understands and applies safety-related precautions as outlined in MSDS.
10. Maintains equipment and District vehicle in such a state of operating excellence as not to hinder daily operations.
11. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and Transportation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:  
EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION:  

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: 
Supervised by the Director of maintenance and Transportation.  Exercises no supervisory responsibilities.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customers or employees.


REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram.
